Our Workmanship

We know as well as you do that the job has to be done right in order for it to be as effective as possible -- and our crews make this a reality. As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, we not only have the installation crew thoroughly inspect their finished work, we also do a complete follow up evaluation shortly after the job is completed.

This is just another feature to the most comprehensive service available to you for a new roof purchase. We settle for nothing less than the best from our materials and crew--and the benefits from these standards of excellence get passed directly to you in the quality of the entire roofing system.

A Typical Residential Job

1. Initial roof inspection. This involves a thorough evaluation and careful measuring of your existing roof, then discussion on what you’re looking to accomplish, cost per year analysis of other roofing quotes, and how/if a Pro-Ply Roof will best suit your needs. Next we provide you with a written proposal/contract within 24 hours or sooner for your review. We’re happy to schedule a follow-up visit or call to answer any questions or discuss the options (recommended).

Once project begins:

2. Remove loose gravel. This optional (but typical) process involves shoveling the majority (75%-95%) of the existing loose gravel off the roof into our dump truck or dump trailer for haul away (some owners request that we leave the gravel onsite so they may re-use it elsewhere). This option is designed to remove a significant amount of weight off the structure (several tons in most cases).

3. Lay down and fasten fanfold (reflective substrate). This standard insulation substrate provides additional R-Value plus a radiant barrier to increase your home’s efficiency. Most homes achieve superior energy efficiency with single-sided radiant barrier, however double-sided is also available. Optionally, we also can lay down thicker ISO or EPS insulation to increase your home or building’s energy efficiency.

4. Lay down and fasten Pro-Ply membrane. The membrane is rolled directly on top of the insulation substrate, then fastened down to the structural decking.

5. Hot air welding (set-up and run along seam). Every Lone Mountain Pro-Ply roof is professionally installed using hot air welding. This means that sheets of Pro-Ply membrane are fused together--creating a single piece of material which covers the entire roof, completely sealing it from the elements. This seaming method is the strongest and best available in the entire roofing industry.

6. Flash penetrations (pipes, vents, etc.). Because there are varying sizes of penetrations on each roof, this process creates a custom “boot” for each one – ensuring a proper seal. The experience of our team members on the roof allows for this truly custom technique – and we believe this is a superior solution to “one size fits all” boots that other roofers offer.

7. Flash canales/scuppers. Because canales are one of the “usual suspects” when it comes to a leaky flat roof, the Pro-Ply System creates a full seal entering the canale all the way through each unit (typically past the outer wall’s plane).  This is undoubtedly the most thorough seal a canale can receive.

8. Flash skylights. With a proper curb mounted skylight in place, we remove the skylight from the curb, flash and seal the membrane all the way to the topside of the curb, then re-set and fasten the skylight on. Please note, we recommend that the owner lay a drop cloth inside the building to catch any dust that may fall due to accumulation inside the skylight (and shaft).

9. Cutting, hanging, and fastening parapet flashing membrane. There are various finishing edge details possible depending on your roof, parapet wall height and shape, pre-existing roof’s termination line, and stucco condition.  This is an example of an inside parapet termination. Topside and wrap parapet termination styles are also available (and sometimes required to completely seal the roof).

10. Inspection. Our expert installation team inspects the work at each phase and then again at the end of the project. But we don’t stop there. Typically 1-2 weeks after the job’s completion, we send another inspector to perform a complete follow-up evaluation (at no additional charge). This is another way we maintain our industry-leading quality control standards.
